THOUGH celebrations were restricted due to prevailing Covid-19 situation, yet decision of Punjab government to observe Punjab Culture Day on Sunday is appreciable and it must be taken forward to project diversity and richness of the country and its culture.
All our regions are indeed blessed with admirable culture and traditions. They all have a legacy to follow.
While other provinces had been making some efforts to promote their culture by holding at least one or two mega cultural events every year, it was Punjab that was lagging behind yet the very initiative of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has finally filled that gap.
Just like other provinces, Punjab has its own distinct and unique culture. Some of the main areas of the Punjabi culture include its cuisine, philosophy, poetry, artistry, music, architecture, traditions and history.
The very costume of Punjab is an indication of the bright and vibrant culture, lifestyle of the people.
‘The people of Punjab also have intense interest in sports especially Kabaddi and wrestling.
Beauty of this culture was demonstrated through exhibitions and other traditional events on the culture day but we will suggest that a more consistent effort should be made in this regard to educate the youth about their culture as well as importance of diversity in order to create harmony and social peace.
We should all be proud of our culture. However, unlike other places, it is highly astonishing to see educated Punjabi families discouraging their children from speaking Punjabi.
It is their identity that they must preserve and promote in their coming generations.
Only those nations flourish who value and regard their cultural identities.
