Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce and Anti-Corruption Jam Ikramullah Dharejo has said that Sindh government is keenly interested to provide technical education to young people enabling them to earn a respectable livelihood as the world is moving very fast towards technical education. He was speaking as a key speaker while witnessing MoU signing ceremony between Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority and Pakistan Association of Printing and Graphic Arts Industry here at Sindh TEVTA headquarters the other day. The minister added, ‘ I am happy to see such kind of work carried out in the TVET sector in Sindh which is not only exemplary for supporting the public-partnership but also for providing a conducive environment to 600 boys and girls who will gain benefit from this partnership ‘. Provincial minister Jam Ikramullah Dharejo said that in his view, this was exactly the approach which developed countries have followed and were reaping benefit. ‘ Through such interventions, not only the industry gets a chance to find human resource as per the quality criteria of their work needs but also the trainees get so learn the real time world-of-work experience. This helps them in preparing well in advance for their jobs and expose them to industry well-in-advance’ . He said. Dharejo said that limited cooperation between the public and the private sector for TVET governance, resulting a gap between demand and supply of skilled workforce, limited role of business and industry in TVET planning and delivery, and inadequate system of assessing the labour market needs are key challenges still in front of us and we need more and more partnerships like this to mitigate such challenges. He said that taking the benefit of this forum, he would like to appreciate efforts carried out by Sindh TEVTA and GIZ for implementation of TVET Sector Support Programme and he would also like to show his gratitude to the European Union, governments of Germany and Norway who have remained key player in the TVET sector not only in Sindh but across Pakistan and provided funding to TVET SSP for implementation of such a game changing programme in collaboration with NAVTTC.
