LAHORE – A large number of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf protesters are moving toward Islamabad’s D-Chowk, demanding the release of jailed PM Imran Khan and for independence of the judiciary, with commuters facing difficulties in parts of the country.
To restrict protesters in Islamabad, authorities also restricted several routes in Lahore, Karachi and other cities.
Thokar Niaz Beg Interchange, and Lahore-Sialkot Motorway M11 have been blocked with containers, with intercity passengers facing difficulties.
Besides putting containers, there is massive deployment of police as authorities imposed section 144 in the metropolis. Traffic congestion on GT Road has further intensified the situation, leaving many commuters frustrated and delayed.
No cars, busses or heavy vehicles are not allowed to enter the motorway, and similar restrictions are in effect on Babu Sabu interchange.
Authorities are urging travelers to carefully plan their routes and stay updated on the evolving situation
