Fazl, Bilawal hope for more joint opposition action in parliament

Pakistan People’s Party chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Friday said that the incumbent government was facing defeat every day.
Bilawal made the remarks during a joint press conference with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman held in Islamabad “The incumbent government was forced to call off the joint [parliamentary] session it had itself summoned due to the unity of the opposition,” the PPP chairperson claimed.
Bilawal maintained that a joint opposition strategy in the parliament on laws will lead to losses for the ruling party, and its recent defeats in the lower house were major achievements for the opposition parties.
He maintained that the opposition was successful in foiling the conspiracy of the National Accountability Bureau Ordinance as well as the government’s attempt to bring the Election Commission of Pakistan under control through electronic voting machines.
On alliance with the JUI-F, Bilawal stated that the PPP has had a relationship with Fazl for the past three generations of the Bhutto dynasty.
“Today, Maulana Asad Mehmood and I are playing a joint role in the parliament,” he said, adding that politics between the two parties will continue but their relationship will only grow along with it.
The PPP chairperson also said that he was indebted to their alliance for the failure of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government.
During his conversation with the media, Fazl claimed that they will soon send the ‘fake’ government home. “A rigged government has no right to bring about any reforms,” he stated.
According to the JUI-F chief, though he is the head of the Pakistan Democratic Movement, he has not done anything alone. “Our only demand from the beginning has been early elections,” he said.
