ISLAMABAD – The doubleheader game of Pakistan Super League season 9 has been washed out due to excessive rains.
On Saturday, Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators and Lahore Qalandars vs Peshawar Zalmi fixtures were canceled at Rawalpindi cricket stadium.
Both games were slated to be held at Pindi Cricket Stadium but were met with cancellation in wake of persistent rain and waterlogged field.
The development comes as downpour continued in garrison city since the morning on Saturday.
As expected, the inevitable happened, and second match was abandoned without a single ball being bowled. Pindi ground stadium was inundated with water, extending to areas near boundary rope.
After the rain, Shadad Khan’s United found themselves in fourth place on the points table with five points, while Quetta Gladiators secured the second spot with nine points.
Meanwhile, the seventeenth game between Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi had also been interrupted earlier due to rainfall.
