The draft of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 8 is in the final stages (at the time of writing) with each team having already made their picks from the Platinum category.
The defending champions Lahore Qalandars made the first selection from the available player’s list and decided to pick their longstanding batter, Fakhar Zaman, after not having retained him earlier.
Quetta Gladiators followed Lahore and picked Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga who played a key role in helping his side win the Asia Cup this year.
Multan Sultans decided to spend their first pick on Naseem Shah but the Gladiators used their right to match the offer to keep him with their franchise. In his stead, the last year’s finalists chose South Africa’s, David Miller.
Karachi Kings, now under Imad Wasim’s captaincy, picked Australian Matthew Wade while Islamabad United used its first Platinum selection on T20 World Champion Alex Hales to keep him with their franchise.
Peshawar Zalmi brought the first round to a close by selecting Sri Lanka’s Bhanuka Rajapaksa who will be making his debut in the upcoming tournament.
Zalmi also had the first selection of the second round and decided to go with West Indies’ Rovman Powell.
United made Rahmanullah Gurbaz their next selection, Karachi picked Imran Tahir and Multan went with Ireland’s Josh Little to conclude the Platinum category round.
