Students and doctors of Govt Medical College, Srinagar, held a protest against a non-local medical student, who put a blasphemous display picture on a messaging app.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a spokesperson of Resident Doctors Association, GMC, Srinagar, said that they had given three hours to the non-local student to remove the offending display picture but the latter refused to do it following which students in anger protested against him.
The protesting students demanded strict action against the non-local student for the immoral act, which they said had hurt the sentiments of Muslims.
Meanwhile, the Resident Doctors Association of GMC, Srinagar, strongly condemned the deplorable act of blasphemy perpetrated by an undergraduate medical student of the medical institution.
Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU) Jammu and Kashmir, an association of religious bodies led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has taken a serious note of the news item in media that a non-local medical student at the Govt Medical College, Srinagar, has put up a post on a caller app, against the holy prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and strongly con-demned it.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the MMU in a statement in Srinagar said such an incident is unacceptable to the Muslims and such blasphemous remarks will not be tolerated.
It asked the management of the college and authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly to find out if it is a deliberate attempt to instigate and hurt the religious feelings of the Muslims , and take stern action accordingly.
This is not the first time that such an incident has occurred and even last year a similar incident occurred at NIT.
The MMU said insulting a particular religious community and its revered figures -the hallmark of a certain hate based ideological movement in India, is spreading its tentacles in Jammu and Kashmir that has always upheld religious coexistence and respect for all faiths. This ploy will not be allowed to succeed here, it added.
