Promoting culture, govt to launch Versa soon: Jamal

Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture, Syed Jamal Shah, undertook a visit to the National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA) and later addressed the media at the Press Club in Karachi on Friday. At NAPA, Interim Federal Minister Jamal Shah engaged with the senior management, receiving a detailed overview of NAPA’s operations and addressing their concerns that demand urgent government attention.

Following a presentation, the minister toured the institute and later engaged with the media, emphasizing the critical role of culture and heritage in fostering unity in diversity. Addressing the media at the Press Club, Minister Jamal Shah expressed the interim government’s commitment to improving economic conditions, urging citizens not to lose hope. He underscored the importance of cultural diversity, asserting that it enlightens the youth about the beauty of unity in diversity.

Highlighting the ministry’s initiatives, Minister Jamal Shah announced that the ministry is about to launch a new channel, Virsa, dedicated to showcasing dramas in Punjabi, Sindhi, Balochi, Pushto, and other languages prevalent in Pakistan. He stressed that cultural and artistic exposure facilitates informed decision-making and it promoting national cohesion.The minister emphasized the pivotal role of films and dramas in educating the younger generation, acknowledging their significance in shaping societal values. He revealed plans for the revival of cultural sites in Islamabad, providing artists with platforms to showcase their talents through performances and fostering cultural promotion.

Expressing concern about the limited number of cinemas in Pakistan, Minister Jamal Shah lamented the high ticket prices, stating that there should be over 4000 cinemas to cater to the country’s population adequately. In conclusion, Federal Minister Syed Jamal Shah affirmed the government’s dedication to preserving and promoting Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage, fostering national unity, and providing greater access to cultural expressions for all citizens.
