ISLAMABAD – President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday urged all provincial governments and relevant stakeholders to collaborate in controlling malaria.

In his message for World Malaria Day, he emphasized the feasibility of preventing, diagnosing, and treating malaria.

World Malaria Day, observed annually on April 25, aims to raise awareness and tackle the challenges associated with malaria control.

The Government of Pakistan is committed to providing comprehensive healthcare services, Zardari stated, and reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to implementing new initiatives under the Global Malaria Programme.

Zardari highlighted the importance of testing, confirming, and standardizing the treatment for every suspected malaria case. He commended the Ministry of National Health’s efforts in combating malaria through the Common Management Unit Malaria, which has adopted a comprehensive strategy.

However, Zardari noted a surge in malaria cases in various parts of the country, attributed to the devastating floods in 2022. He lamented that natural disasters like floods have hampered malaria prevention efforts.
