President Karachi LPG Distributors Alliance (KLDA) Imran Farooqui has categorically rejected false propaganda on acute shortage of Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), adding that there is no disruption in supply LPG in the country. “Some elements are preparing to sell their products at higher prices by running dissenting stories about shortage of LPG or delays of LPG ships. President KLDA urged the government should take stern notice of such a situation.
Imran Farooqui said that at present there are sufficient stock of gas at the port by the importers, and it is not even being sold. Imran Farooqui further added that after the cold and harsh weather in Punjab, use of LP gas and the demand has been increased, taking the advantage the profiters have pushed the rates beyond the reach of general public.
Farooqui said at the behest of importers, the nation is being harmed in their interests. Imran Farooqui said that gas is being supplied from Iran, the government and the public are being misled by spreading the news of non-availability of LPG ships.
He said that efforts are also made by anti-economy elements to stop LPG from Iran, with this act of closure, gas could be sold in the country at arbitrary prices.
Imran Farooqui urged the government to take notice of illegal cabins with Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), cylinders are kept at many places, pedestrian bridges and bus stops across the city, including Gulshan-e-Iqbal in Karachi, and there is a possibility of accidents due to non-registered, substandard cylinders being sold at open public places.
