Urges world community to protect innocent Palestinian lives

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday condemned the raid by Israeli security forces inside Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa mosque compound on April 15.

“Escalation of violence by Israel is a gross violation of human rights and humanitarian laws,” the PM said in a tweet. He urged the international community to protect innocent Palestinian lives and uphold international law and UN Charter.

“Condemnable raid on Al-Aqsa Mosque and escalation of violence by Israel is gross violation of HR & humanitarian laws. We stand in solidarity with the Palestinians. Time for international community to protect innocent Palestinian lives, and uphold international law & UN Charter.” A day earlier, at least 152 Palestinians were injured and more than 300 were detained in clashes with Israeli riot police inside the Al-Aqsa mosque. Pakistan condemned the highly deplorable actions of Israeli forces and termed “the assault on peaceful worshippers” during the month of Ramazan as an “egregious violation of all humanitarian norms and human rights laws.

“This highly condemnable assault on worshippers, especially during the holy month of Ramazan, is an egregious violation of all humanitarian norms and human rights laws,” it read, highlighting that in recent weeks, Israeli forces have killed dozens and injured countless Palestinians in the occupied East Jerusalem and other areas. This escalation of violence by Israeli forces in the Palestinian territories is deplorable,” the FO statement further added. “We pray for the earliest recovery of those injured. Pakistan also calls upon the international community to take urgent steps to protect innocent Palestinian lives, and uphold international law and principles of the UN Charter.”
