All Pakistan Fruit & Vegetable Exporters, Importers & Merchants Association (PFVA) has strongly denounced the proposal to shift Head office of “Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI)” from Karachi to Islamabad as and termed it as “deep conspiracy” against the businessmen community & the most important platform of the trade bodies to keep it away from the economic hub of the country.
Reacting to the proposal of shifting head office of the FPCCI from Karachi to Islamabad, the Patron –in-Chief (PFVA) , Mr. Waheed Ahmed stated that the group running the FPCCI now could not manage to get any financial relief to the business community affected by the coronavirus Pandemic , particularly SMEs and small traders .
Karachi is an economic hub of the country generating 70% revenue for the Federal Govt. The sea port of this city plays a vital role in export & import of various commodities besides Fruits & Vegetables and hence most of the problems of the businessmen community of this city also relate to the Federal departments located in Karachi. The present leadership of the FPCCI has miserably failed to get the issues of the business community of Karachi resolved from the Federal departments located in Karachi particularly nothing has been done to reduce demurrage & penalties imposed by the shipping companies during the pandemic.
Similarly, many proposals submitted by the FPCCI for the Federal Budget have just been discarded.
At the time when the Infra-structure of the city generating the highest revenue is in highly deplorable state, industries are shutting down due to load shedding and high electric tariff, no effective voice has been raised to get basic issues of the city resolved through the most important trade platform – FPCCI and on top of that it’s been seriously considered to shift the head office of FPCCI. The group currently leading the FPCCI has internal tussles and in the state of decaying process.
The “unelected representatives” have “virtually high jacked” head office of the FPCCI while the current leadership is gearing up to shift the Head office of FPPCI to Islamabad so as to “hide” serious differences & internal tussles of it’s current leadership!
