PESHAWAR – Parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Peshawar received rainfall of varying intensities and snowfall over the mountains with experts predicting the wet spell to continue intermittently on Monday evening/night and Tuesday.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly prevails over western and upper parts of Pakistan. It is likely to strengthen during the next 12 hours.
Under these conditions, more intermittent rain-wind/thunderstorm with snowfall over hills is likely in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Buner, Swabi, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Bajaur, Khyber, Kohat, Kurrum, Waziristan, Karak, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan on Monday evening/night. Moderate to heavy rain/snowfall is likely in upper districts. Isolated hailstorms may also occur during this period.
On Tuesday, more rain-wind/thunderstorms with snowfall over hills are likely in Kohistan, Shangla, Abbottabad and Manshera. Cold and dry weather is likely elsewhere in the province.
Heavy rain/snowfall may cause the closure of roads in Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore and Hunza from Monday to Tuesday. The possibility of landslides in upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa cannot be ruled out during the forecast period.
Peshawar’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 08-10 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and 07-09 C on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, rain-wind/thunderstorms with snowfall over hills occurred in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours.

Kalam remained the coldest place in the province where mercury dropped 05 C below freezing.
In Peshawar, minimum temperature was recorded at 10 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 100 per cent.
