Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa weather for Eid-ul-Azha: Isolated rains likely in upper parts

PESHAWAR – Heatwaves are predicted in Peshawar and plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and isolated rains in upper districts on Eid-ul-Azha.

Day temperatures will likely remain between 05°C and 07°C above normal levels on Eid-ul-Azha holidays.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. High pressure in the upper atmosphere prevails over the country, which will continue to persist during the next 04 to 05 days.

Under these conditions, mainly hot and dry weather is predicted in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while very hot in plain areas on Eid-ul-Azha. However, rains and windstorms are expected at isolated places in Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan, Mohmand, Kurram, Khyber and surrounding areas during evening/night.

On Sunday and the next 04 to 05 days, severe heatwaves are predicted in most districts of the province. Day temperatures will likely remain between 05°C and 07°C above normal levels from June 07 to June 12.

Peshawar’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 40°C and 42°C on Saturday and Sunday, and between 41°C and 43°C on Monday.

Meanwhile, hot and dry weather prevailed in Lahore and most districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Dera Ismail Khan remained the hottest place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 42°C. The maximum temperature in Bannu was recorded at 41°C.

In Peshawar, the maximum temperature was recorded at 40°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 38 per cent.
