INDIA can go to any extent to damage Pakistan. The fact of the matter is that peaceful and positive image of Pakistan is not palatable to it.
The despicable and reprehensible suicide attack in Peshawar at a Shia mosque, which claimed the life of at least fifty seven worshippers and injured two hundred others, was also carried by the enemy to scuttle the Australian series as well as fan sectarian strife in the country.
This is not an allegation as the very acts of India in the past clearly suggest that it was not at all happy with the return of international cricket to Pakistan.
This home series between Pakistan and Australia is taking place after twenty four years and the very success of it will really open the doors of international cricket to Pakistan.
In a bid to stop the Australian cricket team’s tour, threatening messages were sent to the family members of an Australian player from an Instagram Account based in the Indian state of Gujarat.
On February 26, a day before the Australian team landed in Pakistan, the family of a cricket player received messages, warning them of grave consequences for playing in Pakistan.
This is not the first time Indian accounts were used to threaten cricket teams visiting Pakistan.
In September last year, New Zealand cancelled its tour and flew out of Pakistan at the eleventh hour over security concerns.
In a press conference afterwards, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain had stated that fake news was generated by India to foil the tour.
Whilst the Australian team has been provided with head of state security and the Australian side has also expressed its appreciation over the security arrangements, it is a matter of satisfaction that the security in the federal capital has further been beefed up in the wake of Peshawar blast as definitely the enemy may hit again to achieve its ulterior motives.
Our authorities concerned must remain in close contact with the Australian side to address any of their concerns regarding security.
Making the series a success itself will be a big slap on the face of India. At the same time, findings of Peshawar blast must also be shared with the international community, which must shun hypocrisy and double standards, and rein in India which is playing with the peace and stability of the region.
