Punjab Minister for Industries, Commerce, Invest-ment & Skill Development Department Mian Mu-hammad Aslam Iqbal has said that Punjab Board of Investment & Trade (PBIT) and Urban Unit will work together for research, information gathering, data sharing and analysis for devising a viable fu-ture industrialization policy of Punjab; so as to en-able planning and channeling local and foreign in-vestment across different industrial sectors.
He was addressing the ceremony organized in con-nection with signing of Memorandum of Under-standing (MoU) between PBIT and Urban Unit to collaborate for common objective of conceiving and designing the future industrialization road map of Punjab.
The MoU was signed by CEO Urban Unit Muham-mad Omar Masood and CEO Punjab Board of In-vestment & Trade Dr. Erfa Iqbal.
The PBIT joins hands with Urban Unit for conceiv-ing and designing the future industrialization road map of Punjab by synergizing the efforts for pro-moting planned and well-organized development of future industrial footprint in the province.
Speaking on the occasion, CEO PBIT Dr. Erfa Iqbal said that the collaboration between Urban Unit and PBIT will provide a platform to the provincial gov-ernment for future industrialization plan along with comprehensive recommendations of necessary ena-bling interventions required by the Provincial and the Federal Governments.
Chief Executive Officer Urban Unit Muhammad Omar Masood said that PBIT and Urban Unit will cooperate for identification of potential geo/demographic opportunities in terms of the loca-tion and cluster preferences, size, facilities and other features, within the province to set the baseline for planning, designing and establishing future indus-trial zones, industrial clusters, growth corridors and nodes as per the international standards.
The MoU signing ceremony was also attended by Secretary ICI&SDD Dr. Wasif Khurshid, COO PBIT Jalal Hassan, Director P&PR Sohail Qadri while urban Unit representatives Sara Ibtisar and Usman Zia were present to witness the ceremony.
