The Pakistan Academy of Letters organized the 36th session of its popular series “Chai, Baatain, aurKitabain” with Afghanistan’s renowned poet and writer Dr. Muhammad AfsarRahbeen and Dr. Saad Khan, an acclaimed author and President of ECO Cultural Institute (ECI), Tehran as guests.The programe was hosted by Dr. HumiraShehbaz.Dr. Saad Khan highlighted the history and objectives of ECI, an organization promoting cultural and literary ties under ECO. He also shared insights into his extensive research on Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, covering personal and historical aspects. His eight books are already published and more in progress.
Dr. Rahbeen, a celebrated Persian poet and translator, discussed his creative journey and presented Persian translations of AllamaIqbal’s works, including Bang-i-Dara and Bal-i-Jibril. He also shared Persian translations of Urdu poems Himala and Jawab-i-Shikoh, which were well-received by the audience. His contributions to Persian translations of Urdu classics and his own poetry collections in Urdu (Rakhm and TajMahal) were also celebrated.Director General (DG) Sultan Nasir emphasized the common literary heritage of Persian and Urdu, thanking the guests for their participation.
The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session and the presentation of Academy publications to the distinguished guests.
