LAHORE – Pakistan Railways has decided to install escalators for elderly and disabled passengers at major Railways Stations.

Listening to public complaints at open court on social media platform on Wednesday, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Amer Ali Baloch said that the Pakistan Railways has planned installation of CCTV cameras in trains. But before that, he said, such mechanism would be devised that no one could damage the security cameras.

Amer Baloch said that legal action would be ensured against passengers involved in smoking in trains. “No one come to travel on trains just to inhale smoke. We will take measures to save them”, he said, adding that reduction in fares was a big relief for passengers and people involved in overcharging would not be spared.

Baloch directed relevant officers to ensure availability of shades and clean drinking water for passengers at Railways Stations. Admitting presence of beggars and hawkers in passenger trains, he said that stringent action would be taken against responsible officials. To a complaint of less parking space at Rahim Yar Khan Station, he directed divisional superintendent to take appropriate measures to facilitate passengers and visiting people.
