Federal Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan has said that Pakistan is determined to promote trade relations with Iran and its other regional partners through the platform of Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

These views were expressed in a special interview with the Iranian news agency regarding the 23rd meeting of trade and economic affairs ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member countries hosted by Pakistan.

He said that the upcoming meeting is very important with the presence of important delegations of Shanghai Cooperation Organization members.

The federal minister said that a meeting of trade and economic affairs ministers of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will be held in Islamabad this week.

Federal Minister Jam Kamal Khan said that some members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization do bilateral trade in various ways including barter and local currencies, but we will follow an effective agenda to stabilize the economy of the countries of the region in the Islamabad meeting.

He said about the trade relations between Pakistan and Iran that during the visit of the late Iranian President Dr. Raisi to Pakistan, the two countries discussed the exchange of delegations.

He said that measures to remove bilateral trade and trade barriers have been updated and it was decided to send a trade delegation from Pakistan to Tehran b ut the scheduled visit was postponed due to the tragic death of the President of Iran and his colleagues.

He stressed that Pakistan is looking forward to effective and close cooperation with the new government in Iran and we are looking forward to bilateral and regional cooperation. Both are committed to further strengthen trade cooperation at all levels and in this regard we are trying to find various solutions under the umbrella of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The Minister of Commerce added that the visit of the Pakistani delegation to Iran is still on our agenda, the trade committees are active between the two provinces apart from the high level and we are sure that there will be important consultations with the Iranian authorities on the occasion of the meeting. Bilateral trade at the meeting of trade ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Islamabadand economic relations, including the establishment of border markets, will also be discussed.

He added that all preparations have been completed for the warm hosting of trade delegations from the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and this progress is being made by the member countries.
