Pakistan “A” team’s proposed tour of Sri Lanka is likely to be postponed, it is learnt. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was originally scheduled to send its “A” team to Sri Lanka to play three ODIs’ and two four-day games in the month of May, but then was postponed to June and finally to July this year.
“The Indian team is arriving here for three ODIs and three T-20Is in July. During the current pandemic situations, we cannot host two teams simultaneously. It is unsafe and unwise in the present situations”, one of the key SLC (Sri Lanka Cricket) members said.
One professional support staff member also doubted this tour would happen. The country is still in lockdown here in Sri Lanka. I doubt it will be confirmed”, he endorsed other source’s views.
India’s tour of Sri Lanka is more important as it would generate more money for the SLC. Secondly, the SLC has also announced hosting of the 2nd edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) during July and August. Accordingly, the tournament will be held from 30th July to 22nd August 2021.
