Pakistan on Sunday confirmed 81 deaths by novel coronavirus in one day as the number of positive cases surged to 142,229. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 2,663.
According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center, record 6,825 persons have been tested positive for Covid-19 in 24 hours.
Till now 52,601 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Punjab, 53,805 in Sindh, 17,450 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 8,028 in Balochistan, 7,934 in Islamabad, 1,095 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 604 in Azad Kashmir. Punjab has recorded 2,514 new cases of the coronavirus, according to the government’s Covid-19 portal, taking the provincial tally to 52,601. It has also reported 31 more fatalities, taking the death toll to 969. The total number of recovered people in the province has risen to 17,650, according to the portal. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Healthcare Commission has directed all private hospitals in the province to display the cost of Covid-19 treatment per patient online and on the hospital notice board at a “conspicuous place”.
Meanwhile, author, activist and wife of PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, she announced on Twitter.
