LAHORE – The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested a key leader of banned militant outfit al-Qaeda in an intelligence-based operation in Gujranwala, a city in Punjab province of Pakistan.

CTD stated in a statement that Dr Aminul Haq Muhammad was a close aide of Osama bin Laden, who was killed in an operation years ago by the US forces.

The high-profile terrorist was living in Pakistan after getting fake documents. DIG CTD said Dr Aminul Haq was also included in the global terrorists list.

He said the key militant leader was present in Afghanistan in April 2024.
