There appears some light in the other side of tunnel on Tuesday when the Punjab government announced that much-delayed Orange Line train project will be ready to begin operation from October 25.
According to LDA Chief Engineer Habibul Haq Randwa, the train will be handed over to the mass transit authority as soon as construction work is completed till September 15. He informed that the train’s first journey will be from Dera Gujran after staff training concludes on October 1. It is to be noted that three month trial or test run of the Orange train has already been completed.
Meanwhile, a delegation led by Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Sheikh Irfan Iqbal called on Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and discussed solutions to the problems faced by industrialists and traders of the province.
Speaking on the matter, Usman Buzdar said that test run of the Orange Line Metro train has been completed and the government intends to start it soon. He said that his government will continue to work on projects of public interest, which previous governments ignored. He also said that work is set to begin on the Punjab Assembly which has been neglected for the past 10 years.
