Ombudsman urges improved complaint probing, execution

Federal Ombudsman, Ejaz Ahmed Qureshi, on Friday stressed the importance of enhancing the quality of investigations into public complaints and increasing the implementation rate of resolved cases to achieve greater satisfaction among complainants. During a meeting in Karachi to review the performance of the regional offices in Karachi, Hyderabad, and Mirpurkhas, Qureshi emphasized the need for continuous improvement.

Senior officials, including Syed Anwar Haider, Senior Advisor and In-charge of the Karachi regional office; Dr. Syed Rizwan Ahmed, Advisor In-charge of the Hyderabad regional office; and the Associate Advisor In-charge of the Mirpurkhas regional office, were present. Ejaz Ahmed Qureshi highlighted that in 2023, the Federal Ombudsman Secretariat received over 160,000 public complaints, with the majority being investigated and resolved within the 60-day timeframe.

Federal Ombudsman, Ejaz Ahmed Qureshi noted that the implementation rate of decisions and directives has remained above 85 percent.

“This year, the number of public complaints is expected to exceed 200,000, and we are committed to maintaining this growth while focusing on consolidation and quality,” he said. Qureshi urged advisors and officials to ensure thorough investigations, monitor the implementation status, and seek feedback from complainants to maximize public satisfaction. He expressed satisfaction with the overall performance of the Karachi and Mirpurkhas regional offices and directed the Hyderabad office to identify areas for further improvement to enhance their performance.
