The Nowruz festival is celebrated juicily in Gilgit-Baltistan. A large number of people participated in the festival.
Nowruz is celebrated in Khowar, Wakhi, Shina, Brushki and Balti communities in Gilgit-Baltistan. It marks the beginning of a new year and the first day of spring.
Nowruz promotes values of peace and solidarity among generations. The moment the sun crosses the celestial equator and equalizes night and day is calculated exactly every year.
On the occasion various artistes performed traditional dances and songs in public gatherings and different games and rituals like Dada, Egg fighting, Tug of war and Basra was played by children, youngsters and elders.
At district Astore Nowruz festival was organized by Government official level with the cooperation of civil society.
Among the guest political persons, Govt Officers and members of civil society were present.
Addressing the function DC Astore Muhammed Tariq said that Nowruz means the sharing of love, its purpose to rejuvenate our culture and the festival brings happiness to the human face.
On the occasion Sajida Sadaqat (Provincial President Women’s Wing PTI GB) said that the district administration of Astore had celebrated the festival in accordance with CM Gilgit-Baltistan vision, I congratulate the administration to cooperate in such type of events.
