Sadiq Ali Memon, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh on Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Sindh, has said that no society can truly develop without empowering women and especially empowering special women and giving them decent jobs.
There is an urgent need to provide training and opportunities to them so that they may earn a respectable livelihood.
He said this while addressing a 15-day training session on cooking and stitching for special women in collaboration with UN Women as a special guest at a local hotel.
He added, ‘ Women are an integral part of the society. Empowering women was the dream of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
And fortunately, the Sindh government is fulfilling the dream of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto ‘.
Sadiq Ali Memon, Special Assistant to CM Sindh on DEPD said that it was time to hold such useful training sessions to empower special women so that they could stand on their own two feet.
“Empowering special women is even more important,” he said. By learning to cook and Stitch women can live a dignified life.
Sadiq Ali Memon said that awareness programs would be organized in a dignified way for women, especially special women, to earn a living. The government will co-operate with all stakeholders in this regard.
He said that special people should be empowered instead of being considered as a burden. Begging should be discouraged.
He said that said Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Sindh was providing skill training to special persons in its institutions.
Extracurricular activities should also be organized for special people as extracurricular activities also increase confidence in special people.
