KARACHI – The government of Sindh has ended the deceased quota as family members are no longer eligible for provincial jobs.

The landmark decision is in line with Supreme Court ruling, that puts an end to the practice that previously allowed family members of deceased government employees to get jobs under the special quota.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah led cabinet took the decision in recent meeting, where several other significant reforms also got the final nod. Among the key initiatives is the establishment of a new company dedicated to providing clean water and sanitation services to rural communities across the province.

Officials also approved the formation of Sindh People’s Rural Civic Services, aimed at improving civic infrastructure in rural areas.

Earlier, Punjab government revoked provision that allowed family members of deceased government employees to secure jobs under the deceased quota under Civil Servants  Rules, 1974.

Deceased Quota: 3822 appointments made in various Sindh depts since 2019
