Next round of polio campaign in Abbottabad district will start on 2nd December and 2nd phase will be held on 16th December in which target of 219,862 babies will be vaccinated says deputy commissioner Abbottabad Amir Afaq while presiding the polio vaccination review meeting at his office on Wednesday.
It was told that in recent campaign, 213,905 kids were given drops of polio and was 93% of the total target and DC stressed that all ways and means to be utilized to achieve the target for which a wide range of publicity campaign to be lunched through NGO’s. Social media, services of Ulema’s to be availed while role of teachers and private institutions was lauded and full capacity involvement of private schools was discussed in length.
Meeting was largely attended by the notables of the area, Additional Deputy Commissioner Shahab Khan, ex-Nazim of the local councils, officials of health department and district administration, representative of WHO, District Khateeb were also present in the meeting with the police. Deputy commissioner ensure the fool proof security arrangements with the provision of transportation to the polio teams and it was decided that special camps to be established at bus stands and on the entry and exit positions of the city.
It was decided that all those families and babies will be touched on priority who were either out of the city in first campaign or due to negative propaganda kept themselves away from the campaign will be approached first and if in case of they refuse to get vaccine, FIR to be registered against them.
