NCHD striving to achieve zero OOSC target in ICT

Education is a fundamental human right that applies to both boys & especially the girls; it is the only mean which helps in transforming a society as well as developing a nation. We should focus more on girls’ education as more girls are out of school than the boys. The aim of the drive is to provide education at the door steps”.

This was observed by the Director General NCHD Syed Junaid Akhlaq, while addressing the media person,on Tuesday. DG NCHD highlighted that, Pakistan government has taken a number of measurements to intensify efforts in provision of education to every child. With 22.08 million out of school children, is a matter of great concern for the nation. In a country where 57 million people are illiterate is a tragedy, he informed. In such conditions, we cannot think of development & progress, he viewed. Unfortunately, Pakistan has the world’s second highest rate of out of school children. There are more than 50,000 children not attending schools even in Federal territory Islamabad. We have expressed our resolve and promised with the world community, that we will achieve 100% enrollment soon, he briefed.

NCHD, Basic Education Community School system (BECS), Federal Director of Education (FDE) and National Education Foundation (NEF) under Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training, along with local partners are contributing in this initiative as well. Mr. Junaid Ikhlaq said that, since its inception NCHD has focused on enrollment and every year it carries out enrollment drive to bring out of school children to schools with special emphasis to their retention as well. NCHD had a comprehensive enrollment program, several activities are carried out in each district i.e. community meetings, enrollment walks.
