Lifelong leader of Pakistan Muslim League-N and former Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that while punishing me, rulers have drowned the country.
Tweeting on the social networking site Twitter, the former prime minister wrote that this is the reality of the accountability through which your three-time elected prime minister was avenged, punished and declared public. Punishing me drowned the country. We will not allow this country to become a spectacle anymore.
It may be recalled that a few days ago, Nawaz Sharif had said that he was issuing instructions to his party that in future no member of our party would meet the representatives of military and related agencies at individual, party or personal level.
In a statement issued on Twitter, he wrote that recent events have once again proved how some meetings are hidden behind seven curtains and how some are advertised and given the meaning of will.
“This is the reality of the accountability through which your three-time elected Prime Minister has been avenged, punished and declared public. Punishing me drowned the country.
We will not allow this country to become a spectacle anymore.”
The former prime minister added that the game should be stopped now. Today, I am instructing my party that in future no member of our party will meet with representatives of military and related agencies at individual, party or personal level to remind the requirements of the Constitution of Pakistan and the Armed Forces to abide by their oath.
Nawaz Sharif further wrote that if necessary for national defense and constitutional requirements, every such meeting would be declared with the approval of the party leadership and would not be kept secret.
Nawaz Sharif’s difficulties have been increased when the National Accountability Bureau has expanded its probe into the former prime minister’s assets.
According to sources, the NAB sought details about Nawaz Sharif’s properties, vehicles and bank accounts. The National Accountability Bureau has sought details from LDA, Deputy Commissioner Lahore, Excise Department and a private bank. The NAB is investigating the Toshakhana reference in the light of the orders of the accountability court.
