Sindh Energy Minister Syed NasirHussain Shah has emphasized the need to eliminate overbilling and unannounced power load shedding, asserting that the welfare of the province’s residents is paramount. Addressing the Sindh Assembly, Shah disclosed that discussions with the federal government have taken place regarding power load shedding.
He further announced an upcoming meeting in Karachi to address complaints against K-Electric.
Despite acknowledging the occurrence of unannounced load shedding in various areas, Shah clarified that the provincial government cannot assume control of K-Electric. He affirmed the government’s commitment to address grievances in accordance with due process. Additionally, Sindh Energy Minister Syed NasirHussain Shah lighted that Sindh Chief Minister’s attention has been drawn to the load shedding complaints.
Assurances have been received from the power utility that load shedding will not occur during examinations, ensuring minimal disruption for students. Earlier, MuttahidaQaumi Movement’s Muhammad Mazahir Amir raised concerns about power load shedding in areas where bill recovery rates are as high as 85%. He urged the government to intervene and prevent K-Electric from enforcing power outages during examination periods.
