Provincial Energy Minister NasirHussain Shah emphasized the critical need for increasing the use of alternative energy to reduce environmental pollution in his World Environment Day message. He highlighted the necessity of expanding forestation efforts to mitigate the negative impacts of environmental changes. Shah stressed that the government is making concerted efforts at both national and international levels to tackle environmental challenges. He advocated for alternative energy as the best solution to combat air pollution and outlined the Sindh government’s ongoing measures in this regard.
The minister detailed the gradual solarization of government buildings across Sindh, reporting that 34 government buildings have been fully solarized, with 23 more to be completed by June 2024 and an additional 100 planned for completion by July 2024. Following directives from Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, Shah mentioned that urban forestry projects are underway, aiming for a greener and cleaner Sindh. He concluded by asserting that the shift to solarization and alternative energy sources is crucial for reducing pollution and promoting sustainable development.
