Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that the former rulers intentionally ignored backward areas in providing health services but the incumbent government has adopted a composite policy in this regard.

Nashter-II hospital is being established in Multan, similarly, Sheikh Zaid Hospital II in Rahim Yar Khan and Institute of Cardiology is being set up in DG Khan.

He said for the first time in the history of Punjab Mother & Child Hospitals are being established in the far-flung and backward areas of the province as these hospitals are of great importance for ensuring the health of mothers and infants.

He expressed these views while chairing a high-level meeting at his Office, which reviewed that programme of providing quality health care facilities to the people of the province.

The Chief Minister directed to take every possible step in providing quality health care facilities to the people of the province and said that service delivery would be further improved in the public hospitals of backward areas besides ensuring that every patient could avail modern health care facilities.

He said that unfortunately no such project could be initiated in the previous tenures which increased the maternal mortality rate.

He said that the present government has introduced revolutionary reforms in the health department which aimed to provide quality health care facilities to the people in the hospitals adding that during the last three years overall health budget has been substantially increased by 118 percent.

Secretary Special Health Care and Medical Education, briefed the meeting about the ongoing health projects in the province.

Provincial Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Chairman Planning and development, Principal Secretary to CM, Secretaries of Finance, Special Health Care and Medical Education, Primary and Secondary Health, local Governments and concerned authorities were also present on this occasion.
