The Combined Investigation Team (CIT) of the National Accountability Bureau has summoned the record of the conversion of land from residential to commercial and of allowing businesses to install power generators on public properties. According to details, a team of NAB Karachi arrived in Hyderabad on Monday for a 6-day probe over the said conversions and installations which had happened with approval of the government departments. The team has asked Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (HMC), Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA) and Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) to submit the entire record. The team has also directed the HMC to submit records of all such properties which were under encroachment in addition to the details about sanctioning public places for placement of the generators. It will be pertinent to mention that the Sindh High Court had also banned conversion of residential plots to commercial plots in Hyderabad in 2021.
