The National Assembly on Friday passed a resolution on Friday to confer a civil award on Arshad Nadeem, who made history by winning a gold medal at the Paris Olympics.
The resolution, presented during the NA session, praised Nadeem’s remarkable achievement in the javelin throw event, where he set an Olympic record with a throw of 92.97m, securing Pakistan’s first Olympic gold in 40 years.
The resolution further recommended that the President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari bestow a civil award upon Nadeem in recognition of his extraordinary accomplishment. The resolution was passed with unanimous support.
The NA resumed its session at the Parliament House with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Imam Masjid Al-Nabawi, Dr. Salah bin Mohammad Al-Budair.
Imam Masjid Al-Nabawi, Dr. Salah bin Mohammad Al-Budair and Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmad Al-Malki witnessed proceedings of the National Assembly.
Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, welcomed the visiting dignitary saying that his presence is a matter of pride and spiritual guidance for us. He said Masjid Al-Nabawi holds a special place in the hearts of all the Muslims across the world.
He lso felicitated Arshad Nadeem for winning gold medal at the Paris Olympics and expressed the confidence that he will continue to earn more laurels for the country. He said the success of Arshad Nadeem should serve as an example for the youth.
Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, welcoming Dr. Salah bin Mohammad Al-Budair, said his presence is a matter of honor. He also congratulated Arshad Nadeem for his record making win at the Olympics.
The PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also welcomed the Imam of Masjid Al-Nabawi at the Parliament.
