Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab visited the Water Corporation’s Shireen Jinnah Sewerage Pumping Station and Habib Bank Pumping Station in Pak Colony to oversee ongoing restoration work. Accompanied by Chief Operating Officer (COO) Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) Engineer Asadullah Khan, political affairs spokesperson Karamullah Waqasi, Chief Engineer Sewerage Aftab Alam Chandio, and other senior officials, the mayor inspected the facilities to address long-standing issues.
During the visit, Union Council chairpersons requested the upgrade of the Habib Bank Pumping Station in Pak Colony. Responding promptly, Mayor Wahab instructed Water Corporation officials to initiate the upgrade process. Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab noted that the restoration and repair of the Shireen Jinnah Sewerage Pumping Station had been a long-standing demand of local residents.
“The restoration will significantly improve water drainage in the area,” he said. Mayor Wahab highlighted the city’s ongoing efforts to address water supply and sewerage problems.
He mentioned that the Jameela Pumping Station in Old City Area has been reactivated and a sewerage treatment plant installed at TP-3, Mauripur.
“Our vision is to eliminate water shortages in Karachi,” said Mayor Wahab, adding that several projects have been initiated to meet the city’s water needs. “The completion of the new canal from Hub will resolve much of Karachi’s water issues.”
The mayor reaffirmed the city administration’s commitment to working tirelessly to resolve urban challenges, including road rehabilitation, infrastructure improvement, and water and sewerage management. “Our primary goal is the betterment of Karachi,” he said.
