LAHORE –  Pakistan Batsman-wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan is likely to be appointed as captain for all three formats, the sources familiar with the move said on Monday.

The sources said that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided to hold an important meeting on September 22 to make decisions regarding captaincy and other matters.

Red-ball coach Jason Gillespie, white-ball coach Gary Kirsten, high-performance coach Tim Nielsen, assistant coach Azhar Mahmood and other coaching staff and board officials would take part in the meeting.

The sources said that the meeting would involve consultations with coaches about potential changes in captaincy.

Based on their recommendations, important decisions regarding the captaincy for both red-ball and white-ball formats are expected.

They said that Mohammad Rizwan is likely to be appointed as captain for all formats.

However, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi will make the final decision after consulting with the coaches, mentors and selection committee.
