Iltija Mufti, the media advisor and daughter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti, has said that her party is under tremendous pressure from the Indian government to quit the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), formed in 2019 to fight for the restoration of the special status of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the PAGD was formed by main regional political parties after the Modi-led fascist Indian government abrogated IIOJK’s special status on August 5, 2019.

Iltija Mufti when asked during a media interview in Srinagar, if the PAGD would continue to work or has already served its purpose, said the alliance was immensely popular among the people and had been their only hope.

She said, “Let me tell you even now the PDP faces tremendous pressure from the Indian government to leave the alliance but that is not our intention.”

“The alliance was not created just to fight elections and to get power. The alliance had a bigger purpose, the bigger purpose is to restore Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and to fight for the rights of the people here and to resolve the larger issue of Jammu and Kashmir, keeping in mind the interests of all stakeholders as per their wishes,” she said.

During the interview Iltija also said, “The BJP might rewrite the Constitution if it gets another term in the 2024 LokSabha polls.” KMS—A —INP
