Minister inaugurates anti-measles rubella vaccination campaign

As many as 18 million children would be vaccinated against measles and rubella during province wide campaign starting from Monday 15th November. This campaign would continue till 27th of this month.

This was stated by Sindh Minister for Information and Labour Saeed Ghani while inaugurating measles and rubella vaccination campaign at Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre here today.

He further said that this vaccine has been declared safe by doctors for children over 12 years who have been vaccinated for Coronavirus.

Provincial Government has made special arrangements in government schools, hospitals and dispensaries in this regard, he added. Minister Information while lauding the role of doctors and paramedics said that whole nation is thankful to them and Sindh Government would soon honour them.

District South of Karachi has performed remarkably during Covid-19 vaccination and it is hoped that the same would be done during this vaccination, he opined. Minister Information further said that measles and rubella vaccine would be given to children between 9 month and 15 years of age.

He thanked WHO and UNICEF for helping Sindh Government with regards to vaccination. We must consider it as our national duty and take all efforts to clarify the baseless propaganda against polio, corona, measles and rubella vaccination, he said and added that despite all sorts of negative perception being propagated by some elements of the society health workers are doing a tremendous job of vaccinating the masses.

Replying a question about  health worker who are on strike, he said that health department is negotiating with them.

The problem is that many health workers were hired for 90 days during Covid19 vaccination, he added. Replying to another question about minimum wage Minister Information said that the Chief Minister Sindh has directed for strict compliance of minimum wage of Rs.25000 to workers both in public and private sectors.
