Zubair Yaqoob Sindh Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah said on Monday that the Master Plans for 17 cities and towns will be designed by December this year. The 17 cities and towns include Karachi, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpur Khas, Nawabshah, Islamkot, Jamshoro, Mithi, Naushehro Feroze, Sanghar, Dadu, Matiari, Umerkot and Tando Allahyar and others, he said. “The government is actively working on Master Plans to finalize them by end of current year,” Mumtaz Ali Shah told in a meeting with a delegation of 45 officers of 42nd Specialized Training Program who called on him at Sindh Secretariat. The delegation consisted of 38 officers of Pakistan Administrative Services and seven officers of Gilgit Baltistan Services Sindh Home Secretary Usman Chachar, LG Secretary Roshan Shaikh, Secretary Planning & Development Shireen Narejo and Secretary Services Naveed Ahmed Shaikh briefed the delegation on law and order, local government system, development portfolio and services structure of the province. The chief secretary informed the delegation that provincial government has taken measures at Thar Coalfield as per international standards. “An airport has been built in Thar while seventy percent of the total employees have been recruited from local population,” he said. Sindh government has also built a bridge over River Indus from its own resources, he added. Mumtaz Ali Shah said that after restoring law and order in Karachi, the government had focused on developing infrastructure and currently work on 449 development schemes in water, roads and other sectors are underway, which are expected to be completed by June this year. “So far 150 km roads, flyovers and underpasses have been completed.” “The restoration of peace has given impetus to educational, cultural and trade activities in the metropolis,” he said.
