LWMC purchases machinery worth Rs7b

Lahore Waste Management Company continues its journey towards self-reliance. In this regard, the company has added new vehicles to the system to ensure efficient sanitation. According to the LWMC, 246 new operational vehicles have been added to its fleet.

The new fleet will reduce the Company’s reliance on private contractors while reducing the burden on the public exchequer and leading to savings. Rafia Haider, CEO LWMC stated that 110 out of 246 vehicles have been handed over to the operations team for daily cleanliness operations.

46 vehicles will be sent to the field upon completion of fabrication. 27 tractors have also arrived in the fabrication process for the collection of waste across the city.

She further said that LWMC has procured new machinery worth Rs. 7 billion as part of its long-term plan. New vehicles are coming in phases and 80% of the machinery will be received by December. She added that all resources are being utilized to improve sanitation arrangements.

The department is taking all possible steps to become a self-reliant operational company as per the vision of the Punjab Government.
