COLOMBO –  In a shocking development, the owner of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) team Dambulla Thunders, Tamim Rahman, has been arrested by Sri Lankan police on charges of match-fixing.

Tamim, a British-Bangladeshi citizen, was taken into custody following an investigation into alleged corrupt activities related to the league.

The LPL administration responded swiftly to the arrest by canceling the ownership contract of the Dambulla Thunders.

The decisive action was taken to preserve the integrity and reputation of the league.

In an official statement, the LPL administration emphasized the necessity of terminating the contract, stating, “To protect the league’s reputation, it was essential to end the ownership agreement.”

If a new owner for the Dambulla Thunders is not found promptly, the LPL administration would assume management of the team’s affairs.

The details regarding the specific allegations against Tamim Rahman have not yet been disclosed.

The situation remains under close scrutiny as the league works to maintain its credibility amidst this controversy.
