President Asif Zardari calls for end to political polarization in Parliamentary address

ISLAMABAD – President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday called for end to political polarisation in Pakistan, and he stressed unity and the country’s progress in his record seventh address in parliament.

The joint session was summoned under Article 56 (3) of the Constitution.

Zardari delivered speech amid opposition’s sloganeering in house. He however remained steadfast in his speech, emphasizing the need for constructive dialogue and cooperation among political parties.

He acknowledged the mounting challenges, including terrorism and economic issues, and stressed the importance of working together to address these challenges.

In Thursday’s speech, Zardari also sheds his views on foreign relations, emphasizing Islamabad’s commitment to its relationship with China and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He also expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri people and condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza.

President called for a focus on education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation. He praised the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and emphasized the need to empower women and marginalized communities.

Zardari’s speech, though marred by opposition disruptions, highlighted his vision for a united and prosperous Pakistan, urging all political parties to work together for the betterment of the country.
