Light rain, snowfall likely in Murree, Galliyat, other tourist destinations in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – Light rain and snowfall is likely in Murree, Galliyat and other tourist destinations in Pakistan on Thursday and Friday.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan.

Under these weather conditions, light rain and snowfall is likely in Murree, Galliyat, and other tourist destinations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Batistan and Kashmir on Thursday and Friday.

Wet conditions and snowfall may affect transportation in Murree, Galliyat, Malam Jabba, Chitral, Dir, Hunza, Astore, Skardu, Gilgit, Rawlakot, Garhi Dopatta, Muzaffarabad and other tourist destinations.

Tourists have been advised to take into account weather forecast and adopt necessary measures accordingly while visiting these destinations.

Murree’s minimum temperature is expected to be between -01 to 01 degrees Celsius on Thursday and -02 to 00°C on Friday.

Meanwhile, extremely cold and dry weather prevailed in Murree and other tourist destinations during the last 24 hours.

Skardu remained the coldest place where the mercury dropped 11°C below the freezing point. Minimum temperature in Astore and Gupis was recorded at -08°C, Gilgit -07°C, Ziarat -06°C, and Hunza, Bagrote and Dir at -05°C.

In Murree, the temperature dropped to 1°C below freezing. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 67 percent.

Murree, Galliyat and other tourist destinations have started attracting people desiring to witness snowfall. Influx of people caused traffic problems in Murree and Galliyat.
