LAHORE – The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday dismissed petitions filed against the outsourcing of the government schools.

Justice Shahid Karim passed the orders after hearing arguments of both sides.

The petitions including one by Aitzaz Ahsan challenged the government’s public-private partnership program.

The petitioners argued that the Punjab government’s decision to privatize government schools was illegal.

They claimed it would lead to an increase in fees and would deprive underprivileged children of basic education.

The petitioners asked the court to nullify the Punjab government’s decision to outsource the schools.

The government lawyer clarified that only non-operational government schools were being outsourced under the public-private partnership model, and these schools would still function under the Punjab government’s administration.

Later, the LHC dismissed the petitions challenging the outsourcing of government schools.
