Dengue fever has become a serious health as well as social problem and the society must fulfill its responsibilities to control it.
“Dengue vaccine is not yet available, so the only solution to prevent the disease is to ensure cleanliness around our surroundings.”
This was stated by Principal Postgraduate Medical Institute Prof Dr Sardar Muhammad Al-freed Zafar while talking to the participants of a walk organized for awareness and prevention of dengue at LGH where pamphlets were also distributed to guide the citizens regarding dengue.
A large number of doctors, nurses and paramedics including Head of Medical Unit-3 LGH Prof Dr Tahir Siddique, AP Dr Maqsood, Dr Jaffar Hussain, Dr Abdul Aziz, Dr Salman Shakeel, Dr Umer Ejaz participated in the awareness walk.
Prof. Alfreed Zafar also said that it is impossible to stop the spread of dengue without the participation and cooperation of the people as every citizen will have to accept the responsibility of cleaning their homes and controlling the factors that breed mosquitoes.
The PGMI principal further said that the only families have first responsibility for the prevention of dengue worldwide who keep their homes clean. He further said that contained water is an ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes of dengue and it is very important to pay special attention to clean it.
