The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Monday conducted operations against defaulters of commercialization fees and illegal constructions in Allama Iqbal Town and Multan Road and sealed 7 properties besides demolishing one structure.
The sealed properties include medical stores, sanitary and electric stores, grocery shops, property office, steal workshops, private offices and other constructions.
The operation was supervised by Director Town Planning Naveed Bhatti while the commercialization fees due on the seized properties amounted to millions of rupees. Prior to the operation, notices were issued to the properties.
Continuing its drive against illegal construction, LDA teams carried out a mega demolition operation in the city.
Director Town Planning Zone-Four Ali Nusrat carried out the operation on the directions of Chief Town Planner Azhar Ali. The LDA teams demolished seven illegal constructions during the operation conducted around Defence Road, College Road and Johar Town.
LDA teams demolished illegal construction of commercial hall and shops on Defense Road, illegal workshop on College Road, two properties in UET Society and partially demolished the ongoing constructions in F and K Block in Johar Town.
Several notices were issued to these properties before the operation. LDA Enforcement Squad and police participated in the demolition operation.
Meanwhile, LDA Director General Tahir Farooq chaired a meeting about the proposed budget of LDA for the next financial year. In the meeting, Director Finance Kashif Imran gave a briefing about the proposed budget for the next financial year. All heads of LDA were present in the meeting. A detailed briefing was given about the financial targets of the LDA.
The meeting was informed that LDA’s all wings will generate double revenue in the next financial year compared to the previous year. In the meeting, the auction road map of various sites of LDA in the next financial year was presented. A briefing was also given on the budget of the proposed plan for development in the societies of LDA.
LDA DG Tahir Farooq directed the directors concerned to link the development plan of the scheme and revenue generation. He directed to start the internship program in the next financial year.
He said that the target of commercialisation fee and other revenue generation should be increased substantially compared to last year. Increase in revenue generation will be the measure to evaluate the performance of officers.
LDA DG further said that revenue generation will be improved in LDA Avenue One and LDA City. He directed the Town Planning Wing to speed up recovery operations against commercialisation fee defaulters. He said that maximum recovery should be ensured in the last week before the end of this financial year.
