Lahore, Punjab weather update; light rain/drizzle likely

LAHORE–Cloudy weather with light rain/drizzle is likely in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Saturday.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly wave will likely approach upper part tonight.

Under these conditions, cloudy weather is likely in Lahore, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat and surroundings with chances of light rain-wind/thunderstorm/drizzle on Saturday.

On Friday night, cold and dry weather will likely prevail in Lahore and most districts of Punjab. Smog will likely persist in Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Jhelum, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Okara, Hafizabad, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Multan, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan and surrounding areas. Fog of varying intensities will likely prevail in plains during morning/night hours.

Lahore’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 11-13°C on Saturday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, smog/fog prevailed in Lahore and most districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Lahore tops the list of most polluted cities in the world with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 374 (hazardous).

As per the data collected from IQAir website at 06:48 pm, India’s Delhi is on the second spot with an AQI of 340 (hazardous). Dhaka (Bangladesh) is on the third place with an AQI of 190 (unhealthy).

Cold and dry weather prevailed in Lahore and most districts of Punjab. Murree remained the coldest place where the minimum temperature was recorded at 05°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 72 per cent.

In Lahore, minimum temperature was recorded at 13°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 52 per cent.
