LAHORE – Cold and foggy weather will likely persist in Lahore and most parts of Punjab on Monday evening/night, Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan.
Under these conditions, cold and dry weather will likely prevail in Lahore and most parts of Punjab on Monday evening/night and the next two days.
Very cold weather with frost during morning hours is likely in Murree, Galiyat and surroundings. Moderate to dense fog will likely prevail in Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Mangla, Jhelum, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Okara, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Toba Tek Singh, Hafizabad, Faisalabad, Jhang, Bhakkar, Layyah, Khanewal, Khanpur, Multan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan and surroundings areas during morning/night hours.
Lahore’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 05-07°C on Tuesday and 04-06°C on Thursday.
Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed in most parts of Punjab and extremely cold in Murree, Galliyat and upper districts during the last 24 hours. Smog/fog persisted in Lahore and other plain areas of Punjab.
Moderate to dense smog/fog disturbs routine life by considerably reducing visibility from late night to morning. Less visibility forced closure of portions of Motorways late night, causing diversion of traffic to the National Highways and other alternative routes. Less visibility disrupted normal vehicular movement on inter and intra city roads.
Murree remained the coldest place in Punjab where the temperature dropped 01°C below the freezing point. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 52 percent.
In Lahore, minimum temperature was recorded at 07°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 93 percent.
