Lady Health Supervisors once again staged a sit-in in front of Punjab Chief Minister House for their service structure and allowance, demanding the provincial government authorities to listen to their demand.

“We have been waiting for promotion for more than 12 years,” said Sajida Hameed, the chairperson Lady Health Supervisors while talking to the reporters outside the Punjab chief minister house in Lahore on Monday.

Sajida demanded the authorities concerned to provide grade-14 to the Lady Health Supervisors. The protesters had come there from different parts of the province. They said that they would continue to hold their sit-in until their demands were met this time. Sajida said, “Every time, the officials make promises with us to fulfill our demands but they do not do so. It is the reason that we are back again on the roads,”.

Many of the workers were holding placards inscribed with the slogans of “Oct 9 is an historic day for the rights of the Lady Health Workers,”. It also mentioned that the Lady Health Supervisors had been waiting for their rights for the last many years.

“We want Basic Pay Scale -14 and that’s it,” said Sajida while representing the protesting ladies outside the Punjab CM house.

She stated that they were 1600 Lady Health Supervisors across Punjab and their simple submission was that the promotion of all their cadres had been done but the Lady Health Supervisors were ignored.

“We have raised our voices for our rights on different forums. And they [the authorities] had made a promise with us but to no avail,” she added. She pointed out that their program director approved up-gradation of only 15 per cent Lady Health Supervisors and the rest of 85 per cent were left at Grade-12 and Grade 10.
